Women of the Year Award 2010 launched ! 01/03/2010
The Shoprite Group announced on 1 March 2010 that it will once again host an award to honour South Africa’s women. The most outstanding women of the year will receive the newly announced Shoprite Checkers Women of the Year Award.

Mr Whitey Basson, CEO of Shoprite, announced today that the Shoprite Group will be channelling this year’s resources for the Woman of the Year Award towards a new feeding programme aimed at assisting the poorest communities in South Africa.

South Africa’s premier accolade for achievement by women went to Ms Janet Buckland who was named the Shoprite Checkers/ SABC2 Woman of the Year 2008, at a dazzling event in celebration of the women of South Africa, held in Cape Town on 31 July 2008.

Winner announced in the category for Arts, Culture and Communication 31/07/2008
Ms Janet Buckland has been announced as the winner of the 2008 arts culture and communications category of the prestigious Shoprite Checkers/SABC2 Woman of the Year Award. The overall title of the Award also went to her.
